Theresa Illich is a newly Colorado-based flutist and teacher. As a graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a bachelor’s degree in Flute Performance and Music Education, she studied with Christopher Kruger. Theresa enjoyed freelancing in New England as a substitute player for various orchestras and ensembles, as well as her time as a member of The Valley Winds, based in Belchertown, MA.
As a soloist and chamber musician, she gives themed public concerts to promote classical and new flute music. Aside from her performing career, Theresa has a passion for education. In addition to teaching privately, she gives lessons and masterclasses to middle and high school groups on topics like practice techniques, performance preparation, and section playing. In addition to working with kids and teens, she has a particular interest and notable experience teaching adult students.
ACADEMIC TEACHER – Theresa is one of DMI’s select Academic-Teachers. We take great pride in providing educated and vetted teachers that can best convey the expectations and real world discipline required to pursue music academia.
What’s an Academic Teacher? Our Academic-Teachers at DMI are taught to inspire and encourage with both practical technical knowledge so the student is prepared for orchestra, symphony and band concerts. An Academic Teacher might say something like:
