Standing out for his versatility, Kevin Lufkin is a Denver based pianist, keyboardist, and teacher. He is in demand as both a soloist and collaborator in projects ranging from funk, classical, jazz, and pop styles. Recently, Kevin performed in Hong Kong with Mannequin, a premier Denver- based event band, and has completed a tour of Mexico where he performed as the pianist for Sound Circle Eurythmy ensemble, based out of Boulder, CO. Other highlights have included various performances throughout the United States and in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

He received his Bachelor of Music in piano performance with highest honors from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and was nominated as the outstanding graduate of his class. He has won prizes in numerous piano competitions, including being a two-time winner of the Colorado MTNA Young Artist Piano Competition, receiving third prize in the 2009 Lee Piano Competition, and winning first place in the 2009 Terrace Hill Piano Competition. Kevin has had many important teachers and influences over the years, but particularly looks up to Herbie Hancock and David Korevaar, the latter of whom he studied piano with in college. One of his most memorable classical performances was his college senior recital, especially performing a Beethoven sonata for cello and piano with his friend. Another highlight was playing a funk gig as part of the Five Points Jazz Festival last summer. In both performing and teaching, Kevin strives to “mix it up” and incorporate many contrasting styles of music.
